“The Wizard of Oz” is the story of Dorothy Gale, who is swept away in a tornado from a farm in Kansas to a magical Land of Oz. Dorothy embarks on a quest with her new friends to see the Wizard who can help her return home to Kansas and help her friends as well. Lessons of courage, friendship and imagination are emphasized throughout the production as Dorothy finds the means of returning home have been inside of her all the time.
The Eagle Ridge production closely follows the movie version and is two hours in length. The show features 138 students who run the full production, from the technical aspects of set creation, lighting and sound to a cast of 80 students performing in eye-popping, colorful costumes rented from Main Street Theatre Company of Round Hill.
