Ashburn, VA (March 19, 2017) – Stone Bridge alumni and Georgetown University baseball’s senior first baseman Jake Kuzbel has been named the BIG EAST Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday. The honor recognizes Kuzbel’s performances in GU’s five games last week at the Snowbird Baseball Classic in Port Charlotte, Fla.
Kuzbel led the Hoya offense to a 4-1 week, batting .550 (11-for-20) with two doubles, a triple, seven runs scored and eight RBI. The senior first baseman also registered a .565 on-base percentage and a .750 slugging percentage while going 1-for-1 in stolen bases. He had two four-hit performances and three overall multi-hit performances. In a 12-8 comeback victory over Western Michigan on Tuesday, Kuzbel had four hits, including the double and triple, two runs and two RBI. Closing out the weekend versus Lafayette, Kuzbel had four hits, three RBI, and crossed the plate twice with a stolen base.
This is Kuzbel’s first career player of the week award, who was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll as a sophomore in 2015.
