Ashburn, VA (September 11, 2016) – Shippensburg University sophomore Billy Deane was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Offensive Player of the Week on Sunday afternoon after playing an important role in the Red Raiders to a come-from-behind victory at Edinboro yesterday.
Deane provided the first six points of the day for the Red Raiders, kicking a 25-yard field goal in the second quarter and a 35-yard field goal on SU’s opening drive of the second half. He is now 3-of-3 on field goals this season. Deane later added extra points on both of SU’s touchdowns.
Deane also managed four successful punts and averaged 40.2 yards per punt. His final punt of the day was his longest, a career-long 48-yard punt in the rain that pinned Edinboro inside its own 10-yard line with less than two minutes to play.
For the season, Deane is averaging 40.7 yards per punt on six attempts.
