]Troy, N.Y. (October 16, 2014) – The Liberty League has announced its weekly award winners in women’s soccer and three Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athletes have been recognized. Taylor Korytko and Shelby Stromerson were named Offensive and Defensive Performer of the Week, respectively, while Tori Riopelle was tabbed the Rookie of the Week.
Riopelle, a freshman goalkeeper from Ashburn, Va., went 2-0 with a 0.00 goals against average and 1.000 save percentage last week, registering a shutout and a combining for another. She played the opening 72:45 of RPI’s victory over the Lyons, before making five saves in the team’s win over the Yellowjackets.
Riopelle is 5-3-1 as the starter in all nine of Rensselaer’s games. Compiling a 0.76 goals against average and an .841 save percentage, the former Briar Woods High School standout has recorded 37 saves and has been credited with two shutouts.
The Engineers (5-3-1) return to action this weekend, when they visit North Country-rivals Clarkson and St. Lawrence on Friday (4pm) and Saturday (2pm), respectively, to open Liberty League play.
