Leesburg, Va (Septermber 8, 2014) – The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors has unanimously proclaimed Saturday, September 27, 2014, as Military Appreciation Day. In presenting the resolution to a group of local veterans, the Board also wanted to call attention to the upcoming “Salute to Military, Veterans & Families” set for 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., September 27, 2014, at Stone Bridge High School. Representatives of veteran service organizations will be on hand to help connect veterans and their families to services, such as help with Veterans Administration claims.
“I’ve been working with the American Legion Posts in Loudoun County all year to explore ways we can assist veterans, especially those who have recently returned from Iraq and Afghanistan. Our goal with this event is to both honor the sacrifice of Loudoun veterans and make sure they are connected with all the support and services they need,” said Board Vice Chairman Shawn Williams.
Ashburn Supervisor Ralph Buona said; “As a former Air Force officer, I have seen first-hand the sacrifices our veterans make on a daily basis. Military Appreciation Day is a necessary first step in connecting the men and women who serve our great country with needed services.”
Board of Supervisors Chairman Scott K. York added; “The Board of Supervisors, on behalf of all Loudoun citizens, wants to convey our deep gratitude to all men and women of our armed forces who have risked their lives to protect our freedom. We are looking forward to honoring their service on September 27.”
