(April 1, 2014) – The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office arrested an Ashburn, Virginia man today in connection with the March 2014 death of his estranged wife. The suspect, Braulio M. Castillo, 43, is charged with first-degree murder and is being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on no bond.
The victim, Michelle G. Castillo, 43, was found deceased in her home on Belmont Station Drive in Ashburn shortly after 9 a.m. on March 20. Loudoun County Sheriff’s Deputies initially responded to the residence for a check the welfare call.
During the investigation the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office executed multiple search warrants at two locations and conducted door-to-door canvasses throughout the area.
The case was conducted in conjunction with the Office of the Medical Examiner and the Office of the Loudoun Commonwealth’s Attorney.

There will be a visitation for Michelle Castillo on Saturday, April 5, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Adams-Green Funeral Home at 721 Elden St. in Herndon. Her service will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at 1 p.m. at McLean Bible Church at 8925 Leesburg Pike in Vienna.

Michelle Lee Castillo, 43 years old, of Ashburn, Virginia, passed away on March 20, 2014. Michelle was born in Warner Robins, Georgia on January 15, 1971. Michelle graduated from Northside High School in Warner Robins, Georgia. She received her Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia and her Masters Degree in Management of Global Information Technology from the Kogod School of Business at American University in Washington, District of Columbia. Michelle was a loving mother to five children. She actively supported the local and international communities. She regularly served at the Loudoun County Homeless Shelter, went on a mission trip to support Helping Haitian Angels and provided much needed aid to international relief agencies like International Justice Mission and The Water Project. Michelle was married to Braulio Castillo on March 21, 1996. Michelle is survived by her husband, Braulio Castillo and their five children, Nicholas, Victoria, Jonathan, Zachary and Benjamin. She is also survived by her mother, Judy Barnickel, her step father, Dale Barnickel, her father, Melvin Griffin, her step mother, Velma Griffin, her sister, Betty Lewis, her brother, Randy Middlebrooks and numerous family members. The viewing will be held at Adams-Green Funeral Home at 721 Elden Street, Herndon, Virginia 20170 on Saturday, April 5, 2014 from 5pm to 8pm. Her funeral service will be held in the Smith Center at McLean Bible Church, 8925 Leesburg Pike, Vienna, Virginia 22182 on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at 1 pm. Interment will be held at Union Cemetery in Leesburg On Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at 11:00 AM.
