Ashburn, VA (Mar. 7, 2016) – RoboRays 1, a team from Stone Hill Middle School, placed second at the Virginia VEX Robotics competition on Saturday, February 19th, and Sunday, February 20th, at the Meadow Event Park in Doswell.
RoboRays 1 also received a build award for its robot. These honors qualify RoboRays 1 for Vex World competition from April 20th through the 23rd at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville.
Members of RoboRays 1 include Christopher Jay Avery Jr., Anish Kadali, Josh Miner, Surya Punjabi, Siddharth Rapolu and Taha Abu-Saymeh. The team’s sponsor is Patrick Kaylor.
Two other Stone Hill teams fared well in this competition. RoboRays 4 placed 28th out of 48 teams and RoboRays 7 was 39th.
