Ashburn Va, (September 7, 2014) – The U.S. Golf Association’s 2014 Drive, Chip and Putt Championship is a developmental program in which boys and girls compete in separate divisions in four age categories: 7-9 years old; 10-11 years old; 12-13 years old; and 14-15 years old. Participants compete in 110 local events, subregions and a regional qualifier where the top two winners move on to compete for the national championship at the Augusta National Golf Club.
Loudoun County had one participant who finished third in the regional event. Nick Rentsch competed in the 14-15 boys’ category and made it all the way to the VA regional final where he competed with eight other boys for the chance to move on to Augusta. Nick came close, finishing third in putting, but did not qualify. Nick will continue to compete and somewhere in Loudoun County there is a high school golf coach who will be more than happy to add Nick to his lineup.
